how it works
Pre-clearance
Pre-clearance is a term we use for issuing access codes via SMS’s that visitors can use to enter and exit the estate / complex. How it works is as follows:
- A resident (who is registered on the system) sends and SMS request to our server.
- The server validates the resident and sends and SMS back to the resident with an access code (valid for a specific day and a specific number of entries)
- The resident forwards the same SMS to his/her visitor.
- The visitor arrives at the boom/gate and punches his code into the keypad provided.
- The system validates the code and either grants or denies access to the visitor.
- If access is granted, a courtesy SMS is sent to the resident notifying him of his visitor’s arrival.
As you can see, there is little / no intervention required by security personnel and so is suited to small to medium sized complexes.
Voice-clearance
Voice clearance can be used in combination with pre-clearance and offers the estate the ability to securely phone the resident for access.
- The visitor arrives at the gatehouse.
- The security guard establishes which stand the visitor intends on going to and optionally enters additional information about the visitor (cell number, vehicle registration, etc.)
- Using the panel provided, the guard locates the stand and has an option of dialling a preset number of contacts for that stand. The telephone numbers are never revealed to the guard and the guard may only call the contacts presented on the system.
- When the guard announces the visitor, the resident has the option of granting access by pressing a digit on his phone (typically “9”). This will immediately open the boom/gate and send an SMS to the visitor with an “exit” code.
- When the visitor leaves, he simply punches in his exit code into the keypad provided.
The costs involved in the above would typically be included in your fixed monthly rental of the system.
